About Diane Stockwell

Diane StockwellGlobo Libros Literary Management founder Diane Stockwell started her publishing career as an editorial assistant at Warner Books in 1991, where she acquired a range of non-fiction and fiction including the house’s first two celebrity bilingual projects valued at over $500,000. She was then recruited by Kensington Publishing to start up the first-ever line of commercial bilingual women’s fiction, which she named Encanto. Several talented fiction authors who got their first contracts with the critically-acclaimed Encanto went on to publish books with major houses, such as Caridad Scordato, Lynda Sandoval and Lara Rios.

Diane also acquired Spanish radio star Dr. Isabel Gomez-Bassols’ first book there, and was then recruited by the Radio Unica network to start up their in-house book publishing operation. Responsible for packaging and national trade sales for UnicaLibros, the two self-help titles published by Dr. Isabel were national Library Journal/Criticas bestsellers. At this time Diane was randomly approached by a Chilean journalist in need of a literary agent, and successfully sold that project, Nuestros Heroes (“Our Heroes”) to Planeta Publishing, the largest Spanish-language publisher in the world. The book, a tribute to the Latino firefighters who perished in the World Trade Center, was also Diane’s first assignment as a translator, and the English edition was published simultaneously less than three months after the publishing contract was signed.

After Dr. Isabel moved to her new home at Univision Radio, Diane acted as her agent and landed a two-book deal with Vintage Español, and a two-book children’s deal at HarperCollins. While continuing to selectively translate books and short articles, Diane’s client list has steadily grown by word-of-mouth to include several high-profile Hispanic authors. As the publishing industry increasingly seeks to target the growing population of Spanish speakers and also English-dominant Latinos in the U.S., Globo Libros Literary Management is uniquely equipped to successfully represent authors for this growing niche. The agency also seeks quality writers of all backgrounds.
